ZLATAN IS GOD IN SWEDEN & HE WANTS A NEW ANTHEM
Undoubtedly the biggest star in Sweden, it seems like the country is simply mesmerized by anything that Zlatan does, the most recent of his achievements was early this year when he released his version of the national anthem in the famous ”Made by Sweden” campaign with Volvo, an instant success that left a footprint in the country in a deeper level than just a TV spot.
The interesting part is that Zlatan’s new version of the national anthem is actually much cooler than the older version as he changed the ending of the song from ” Jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden" to "Ja, jag vill leva jag vill dö i Sverige.”(I will live and die in Sweden instead of the North), a strong message to the country and specially for all the minorities living in Sweden (just like Zlatan). The song became an instant hit everywhere in the country… and now kids in the schools sing this version and even famous UFC fighter ”The Mauler” uses it when he enters the ring
"This is as Sweden looks like 2014. I don’t speak perfect Swedish, but that’s the way it is. A mix everywhere. I can be Swedish all the same. We are all different yet similar,"… “This new anthem is just what we need. The old one was long and boring.” - Ibrahimovic said in an interview with the Dagens Industri (DI) daily.
Its incredible to see what strong influence can a football player have in a country.. We dare to say that his presence is perhaps bigger than such from Maradona in Argentina; Just to bring more facts to the table of how crazy is the passion for Ibrahimovic in Sweden:
- His autobiography in 2011 became the fastest selling book of all time by reaching more a half a million copies in Sweden
- His re-worked version of the Swedish national anthem featuring Day, ”Du Gamla, Du Fria”, became the number 1 song in the Swedish radio digital chart
- Zlatan is so famous, that the word “ZLATAN” has been registered and anyone that uses it has to pay a fee to the footballer.
